Self transfer to Yangon Airport (Domestic Terminal). Take a flight to Bagan. Meet and greet by our local tour guide at Nyaung U airport. From the 9th to 13th Centuries, the city was the capital of the Kingdom of Bagan. During the kingdom’s prosperity between the 11th and 13th Centuries, over 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries were constructed in Bagan plains alone, of which the remains of over 2200 temples and pagodas still survive to the present day. Visit the renowned temples in Bagan and Nyaung-U including Ananda Temple, Dhammayangyi Temple, Manuha, Shwezigon, and Gubyaukgyi Pagoda and lacquer ware workshop. Take a sunset boat ride. Overnight in Bagan.
After breakfast at hotel, drive to Mount Popa, which is an extinct volcano located about 31 miles away from Bagan. It is best known for the stunningly picturesque Popa Taungkalat monastery and is popularly recognized as an abode of many ancient spirits. Then, return to Bagan and visit a traditional Htan Tae to learn about making jiggery from toddy palm syrup. The translucent white syrup is boiled until it becomes golden brown and then, made into bite-sized pieces to be eaten as a sweet. Taste a toddy palm juice. After that, you will be transferred to airport for domestic flight to Yangon.
